Penny and I did crazy things yesterday (crazy and amazing can be one and the same). The intention 60 miles. Started well. Mile 26 pit stop. Go to resume the ride and I notice a puncture. Good thing Penny came prepared with pump and last Monday we had been on a course to fix punctures. Perfect, except we didn’t have a repair kit between us.
No matter we cycled the seven miles back to my place, stopping to pump the flat as required.
Mended puncture, joint effort, very proud. High fives. Set off again with the first lightning flash and clap of thunder. No problem we said sheltering under a bridge as it hailed. Seven miles later puncture number two and persisting with rain. I called it a day. Took Penny’s pump and returned home pumping up the tyre every 200 yards. There’s lots of them in 7 miles. Got home soaked through but so as not be beaten mended the puncture all by myself. YES!
But …poor Penny still had 22 miles to go in the pouring rain. She made it just as the rain stopped and the sun came out.
We laughed so much. We are planning a another session soon but without the pantomime.
