HIIT training - Amanda
It’s come from New York apparently but has been around for a good few years. Pete Coe used it in the 70’s to train his well known and talented son, Sebastian. It wasn't called HIIT at the time, in fact back then it didn't have a name.
High Intensity Interval Training, HIIT. Now it’s over here. Fully researched and proven to be effective (depending on your view point) and what you do in 2014 to maximise your fitness.
Short bursts of maximum capacity exercise followed by a short recovery then do it all again….until you have done three sets. All preceded by a good warm up and followed by a good cool down.
I go to the gym regularly so, “sign up”, said Pete, instructor, trainer and fitness guru. Small groups, “eight max, you’ll enjoy it”. Pete’s good at getting you to do things, after all he’s written me some really comprehensive training programmes and yes, I admit it, I do enjoy them. I trust him. So I signed up.
Then read up about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently the benefits of this high intensity exercise continue to have a positive effect for days after. I start Tuesday 7 January!
So please think of me, not just on Tuesday but Wednesday and um, perhaps a few days beyond that too.
